I recently bought a new book at Book People, a local store here in Austin.  Illustration Play, Craving For The Extraordinary, explores many new illustration styles and experiments from various artists around the world. Discover how each of these artists play with their art to create beautiful illustrations. Even the cover is beautiful! Here are a few of the artists:

I had a great time at the art show at Wild Basin Preserve. The house was simply gorgeous sitting atop a beautiful green hill with an amazing view. Austin Art Garage provided the art work from many talented artists. Tribeza magazine and Sweet Leaf were also a part of the event. Needless to say, we all had such a good time we did not want to leave!!

One of my new paintings, “The Beauty of Silence,” is for sale at Austin Art Garage. The inspiration for this painting came from my trip to White Sands National Park in New Mexico. It was the most beautiful site I had ever seen! The entire area was covered in soft sand so white it looked like snow. It was an amazing experience to say the least.

Amazing picture book by Brian Selznick!

My Aunt recently sent me this amazing picture book. The book, ” The Invention of Hugo Cabret,” was written and illustrated by Brian Selznick. His book actually won the 2008 Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book of the year. His pencil illustrations are amazing! He tells part of the story with only pictures before he returns to text, making for a very fun and imaginative read. My Aunt was able to meet him and get an autographed copy for me. I would definitely recommend checking out this book.
